yes however it is socially acceptable for a man to be a "who-er" it all has to do with the fact that teh only purpose man scientifically has is to "spread his seed" the woman on the other hand is only there to produce children... so it is in turn ok for a guy to go out and bone chicks... if a woman has sex without producing children her fertility is questioned... the mans is not |

^ yeah maybe if this was 1812! get with the times, buddy. The stone age is OVER.
If I were trying to get pregnant, and it wasn't happening, my man and I would BOTH be paying a visit to the fertility clinic. I think that's pretty general rule of thumb when it comes to most couples trying to get pregnant. |

No we aren't animals so are needs and desires aren't as basic as theirs (eat, sleep, mate), and our society has developed tremendously over time. But in "the beginning" and up untill quite recently actually, a womans only purpose was to find a suitable man, marry him, have his children, and raise his children. Sex wasn't as much of a right or pleasure as it is today (ESPECIALLY for women). The mans purpose was to 'spread his seed'. Have children, and provide for them. And we all know this desire is often quite strong, so it is/wasnt always kept to one woman. Plus, women weren't always thought of as equal humans, Men were in charge, and that was that. Of course today it is much more complicated of course, but peoples views on sex and other things in life are influenced by the past alot more than you think. |

p.s. In NO way am I saying a man can have his "desires quenched", but if a woman does that makes her a whore is true. NO WAY, but it's been looked at like that for millions of years and certain beliefs, human instincts, and even the act itself (woman usually the hunted, their sex the prize. or the act itself; the woman being entered or "conquered" by the man). Of course it's bullshit to look at it like that, but there are reasons that people do (even if they aren't the way things work, or should work nowadays.)

But of course, Lildinkey and his double standards state otherwise. Oh, and you can't forget. It's ok for him to have sex with other people in the past, and for his g/f to sleep with him. But a girl will never be his g/f if she isn't a virgin. What a nice, modern, fair way of thinking! |

I don't believe in this crap about how it's a man's "job" to spread his seed. if we we're using evolution to settle this, look at it from a different perspective: a man could also increase the survival chances of his offspring if he were to protect this pregnant women and help her raise this baby. simply boning every woman he sees does not ensure offspring survival. it just increases his chances of getting an STD :P

^ they recently did a show on 20/20 stating that with over 60% of marriages now ending in divorce, and 80% of men cheating on their wives, with 70% of the women doing the same ... starts too look bad for the future.
The point of the show was that it's hardwired in your brain to a certain degree , to yes, mate and spread the seed. |

and second of all, seeing the stats on how many people are cheating on does not prove the theory is 100% correct. it's so easy to take an effect and work backward to construct an explanation for it. however, it's mere speculation. and the fact that it was on 20/20 doesn't make it anymore true. :P personally, I don't believe this theory. I believe that love is a universal concept because it tends to result in a genetic pay off for both the man and the women. after all, the offspring of a devoted male and female is far less likely to be killed or eaten by some predator, resulting in a higher chance of the parents perpetuating their genes. --Joanne :P |

People don't cheat because of some sort of carnal instinct...
People cheat because they have no self-control, are cowards, don't really love/care about their partner, et fucking cetera There is no "excuse" for cheating. If you cheat, you're pathetic, end story. |

By "all I'm gonna get" I mean, sex. Your partner. You also see the media feed you not only the desire, but, almost an inherent belief among us that it's okay. "Everyone does it." Look at our society's 'role models.' All the people that everyone wants to be like (moviestars, ROCKstars, ect.) they're all cheating. And, they have EVERYTHING. Not only are they cheating, they get to cheat w/ the super-hoties. Both sexes. (Kid Rock, he's cool, he parties on the American Porn Cuircut.) Can't say I'd have a problem w/ that one bit. Hell, even if porn's not your thing, I'm sure you see my point. "Are you saying 'Boo' or, 'BooUrns'?" "BOO! BOO!" (thanks R for that one) |

Traditionally yes, woman's role was in the home..having babies, cooking and cleaning was their role, and men would work and make money. Western society has progressed from this patriarchal society, therefore, this "planting seed" theory is not really valid...although it was probably up to the early 20th century. A woman's fertility is questioned when she is having sex and not producing kids...because in more cases than others, she is using protection or on birthcontrol. In the past, it was hard to get access to any kind of contreceptives because it was illegal and condemned by the church. Many people now a days have less children, use contreceptives, or choose not to have kids or get married at all. The roles have changed!

if you can't tell right from wrong, you're pathetic, no matter how you look at it if you're "bored" with your partner, be a fucking adult and end things, then you can sleep with whomever you please lying, sneaking, and all the other acts that come along with cheating are all classic characteristics of cowardice. period.
