UNFORTUNATELY?! Me (and my boyfriend ;) ) would kill for me not to have any gag reflex haha. anywaaays, back to the subject at hand.... I can't remember if you're much of a beer drinker, but if you are stop! That stuff is full of calories (so is most alchohal). When I was on tour I had to drastically cut down my beer frinking or I would have gained alot of pounds, the best alternative if you want to drink is gin and tonic. But thats icky (in my opinion) so try vodka, 1/2 cranberry 1/2 soda if you'd like. Dairy, you shouldn't be eating dairy anyways ms. lactose intolerant! So not eating it would take away some cholesterol as well, I can introduce you to some 0 cholesterol dairy alternatives (and yes, you can even cook with them. I've figured out how to make things like non dairy alfredo sauce!) But other than that, it sounds like youre on a good start. Staying away from junk (inclduing sugar) and working out is the basics to the healthiest way you can lose weight. See how that and eating healthier works out, because I will kick your ass if you try losing it in an unhealhty way!!! |

i will never EVER lost weight in a unhealthy way.
it does more damage than good... i was SO close to losing a friend from anorexia/bulemia in highschool that watching her suffer was enough for me. :( i LOVE my beer...im trying to stay away from it though, its about everything in moderation though right?!?!...for instance i could get drunk on friday for margies bday but i've opted to be d.d. which will make me NOT drink btw: anyone going to margies bday dinner...please help me stay away from the bread hahaha thats my BIGGEST issue...due to me being a vegetarian i am a CARB FREAK also another question: is there a time during the day where its better to work out?!? or does it matter? |

It's nice to see that you've taken up weight trainning at the gym and are eating healthy. Now do yourself a favor, lose the weight targets(you know the I would like to lose x amount of pounds) they will only let you down real hard if you don't accomplish them. Now along with weight trainning, try taking up running. My wife and I are trainning for the Sun Run. She was never able to run and was mortified of it. But with a little bit of tips on the proper way to breathe from me, some trainning and some baby steps at it, she can now run for 30 mins straight. And the wieght is litterally melting off of her and we started trainning last month.

i'm doing this macrobiotic/japanese diet and it's pretty neat. it's probably easy for me cause that stuff has always been a regular part in my diet, but i can def feel a difference. whole wheat is good, but you should step up and go for whole grain. i'd cut out breads, tortillas and such. carbs are good for you and you can get that from eating brown rice, barley, buckwheat and such. stay away from processed, already made foods. cheese is no good. juices/pops are no good. drink organic milk. if you eat yogurt go for plain yogurt so you can control what you mix it with. go for white meats instead of red meat, fish is the best tho. no caffeine. only use olive oil. don't buy into all that diet/low fat shit, it's a bunch of shit. it will always have a high calorie/fat content just lower then the regular stuff, or it will taste like shit and is filled with chemical fillers. organic is the way too go. if you're a first time weight lifter start eating 1-2 boiled eggs in the morning. quick walks after meals are good. either way, fresh veggies/fruits and whole grains are best. you're lucky summer is just around the corner. |

ya i go for whole grain breads...instead of wheat flour or white flour ones
my taco salad is one way i get my protein cause its: veggie ground round with taco seasoning kidney beans black beans tomatoes lettuce and light italian dressing with a bit of cheese for extra protein i stopped putting chips in it its hard for me to cut out stuff like tortillas...cause if i want say fajitas or something...what else do i use? |

Also, a couple things that help: Drinking lots of water & Green Tea. Look into different foods that help increase the metabolism, do not decrease your food intake because, as mentioned before I think, that will only slow down your metabolism.

the faster you lose the weight, the faster you`ll put it back on. Slowly but surely is the best way to go,and fuck this atkins no carb bullshit.
Yeah go do the atkins thing so you can be a beef eating anti vegetable tool that will be crapping out suasage links! HEALTHY! since im Italian I eat lots of carbs and low fat. I stick to my chicken and fish,I drink tonnes of water and suck on lemons all day.I also work out atleast 3 times a week, but for the past month it hasnt been so because of personal problems and my work scheduale. Over the past year and a bit ive lost about 40lbs,and kept it off,and it keeps coming off. Also its the mindset that you keep, keep it in your mind that you are doing something good for yourself, that you are feeling better and looking better with each passing month. Its easier to beleive once other people start seeing the results and compliment you on it too. Do as much cardio as resistence training, sure cardio will get rid o the fat but then you`ll have loose skin and be all yucky looking,so make sure you do resistence trainging too and tone up your muscles. Also you wanna focus on losing fat mass not muscle mass,I know certain gyms have like digital machines that you hold when you weigh in each month and it tells you how much fat mass and muscle mass youve lost. Make sure youre going to a gym that offers this machine. Also make sure to focus on your heart rate and keep it within your fat burning target,it varies for each age group. If your heart rate gets too up there, you are burning muscle mass, and we dont want that. It`ll get to the point eventually where you will stop losing, and start gainging...but you`ll be gaining muscle mass which is what you want. Anyways good luck and lemons are your friends :) |

Things i ate that were good for protein were Tuna sandwiches and fish. If ur going to eat alot of fish make sure its actually wild, and not farmed. I cut out butter, and only small amounts of miracle whip. Drastically decrease the amount of dressings you use on things. Don't use dip for anything anymore. Don't drink pop at all anymore. Drink clear alcohols, no beer or coolers. Vodka cranberry is probably as healthy as your gonna get drinking alcohol heh. Cut up your meals into 4-5 small meals a day.. don't eat anything after around 6 or so, because after that time your relaxing in the day and not using as much energy. When you get really hungrey, chug back a full glass of water. Drink lots of glasses of water all throughout the day. After awhile you adjust to your new eating habits so stay dedicated and good luck! i hear green tea also speeds up your metabolism. There are tonnnes of tips and things you can do. good luck!

its going to be about 50% diet 50% exercise.
A lot of people think they can get by on just dieting. if you're just going to only diet dont even bother. work out at least 3 times a week with loads of cardio. maybe start off easy, but after a month or so you should be really out of breath and sweating after you cardio session. eating late is also a big no no. 4-5 small meals a day is also a good tip. good luck! |

After your workouts make sure to eat something healthy and with a good balance of nutrients ( Protein, Carbs, Fat ). The workouts consume most of your body's fuel (glycogen) and these reserves need to be topped up immediately... otherwise your body begins to think it's starving and will try to store some of the food as fat (your body breaks down muscle/fat for energy when it has no food). There is a LOT more to everything I just said... i've only just scratched the surface, so I would definitely seek a professional nutritionist even if it's only to discuss a few things. You don't have to keep seeing them, just get the information you seek. However, if you did some research you might be able to find a lot of this stuff somewhere on the net. Also, try eating more often, but in smaller portions. rather than eating 3-4 big meals a day, eat 6-7 smaller meals a day. This will speed up your metabolism. |

part of a diet is cutting back. maybe fajitas should become a treat for special days. do you put sour cream and cheese into your fajitas? i think you'd be better off making a stirfry of whatever you put into your fajitas (onion, peppers and such) and eating it on top of brown rice. there are good carbs and bad carbs, then there's too much carbs (even of the good variety, carbs are carbs in the end). beans are allright, but don't eat too much. the cheese you put on your tacos gives you an insignificant amount of protein, it's not worth it. cheese consists of fat and a little dairy, i'd rid your house of it if i were you. it sounds to me like you have a carb problem. you don't eat protein so you're replacing it with carbs, there are much better ways of getting your protein. do you eat nuts? seeds? tofu? do you make your own spaghetti sauce or do you use bottle sauces? bottled sauces are shit. they're tomato paste with a whole lot of chemicals, some of them have tons a sugar too. home made is always best. normaly what i do is i stirfry carrots, zucchini, mushrooms, onion, peppers garlic, tomatoe, celery, and whatever else then i throw in a bottle of sauce. that's enough for a meal with plenty of leftover for lunches during the week. how often do you eat salad? salads can make a very good meal. once a week i get a pack of romaine hearts, a box of mixed greens, bag of mixed peppers from costco which will last me the entire week. mix the greens together, roast some peppers, throw in tomatoes, cucumber, and whatever else i have at home. roast some seeds and nuts, break up some feta, hard boiled eggs. then i make my own dressing out of mayo, mustard, olive oil, pepper, salt, and garlic. sooo good, probably my favorite meal. either way, weight loss comes with time. how long has it been since you changed your eating habits? when did you start working out? if you stick too eating properly, and exercising regularly you'll see results within a coupel weeks. |

i lost about 30 lbs.. and here is how i did it
first of all when my step mom saw me after not seing me for about 4 months, she was shocked and dragged me to the gym. she motivated me a lot which helps very very much. it was very hard for me to attend gym on regular basis, just because i wasnt used to it, and having a friend coming with was also super good motivation for me. once i got used to it, i didnt even care that much if anyone came with me. i was lucky to have few friends that worked for fitness world and gave me suggestions. first of all my friend alex suggested me of course to do a lot of cardio, but he said to remmeber that if i do too much cardio and start loosing weight fast without having muscles, and u'll end having loose skin hanging. so u dont wantt to be doing to much cardio, so that kind of thing will not happen to you. he suggested me to take turns. one day do cardio, and another just warm up (10-20 min) and weights. that way you start building muscle and will be toned instead of having loose skin. also like kalester said, cutting on the sizes of food is very important. start eating less, but more often. say have breakfast (cereal), then some kind of snacks, then good lunch and so on. everytime u eat, your metabolism kicks in. another thing is eating after 7 pm (even 6, but 7 is easier to start with). your body burns calories even when u are sleeping, but it really does slow down closer to evening. what i mean eating after that time, meaning like any kinda meat or havier food. u can eat as much of vegetalbes, fruits and yogurt as u want, but nothing else... you will see how in days u will notice changes. its horribly horribly hard, but soooo worth it! i dont know if u are a pot smoker, but i used to be a heavy weed smoker, and noticed myself having munchies like crazzzzy. i wouldnt be able to stop, its was sooo bad. after moving out of poco (where friends all they do is smoke weed all day) i moved to vancouver with a roommate that does not smoke, i noticed how i stopped smoking weed, and literarly started loosing weight without even having to work as often. i started to eat so much less and not have any munchies which felt so good. so i know how weed could be for many people. like Kimmy said, talk to personal trainer, one hour will be enough to learn many things. best of luck to you... it feels great! dont ever give up, its worth it! cheers Last edited by alla; Feb 02, 05 at 06:31 PM. |

I think you look really good but I havn't known you that long so maybe there's been a change. but I go to the gym like 5 days a week and try not to eat so much crap food and drink LOTS of water. it's a lot in your head to, I stoped puting myself down and all that crap about how I felt about myself and I started feeling a lot better about how I looked and then my confidence lever raised. but you do look good but it's all up too you now. good luck with it. |

i don't think it's necessary to talk to a trainer.
unless your'e trying to do something crazy (fast weight loss, crazy body building), i wouldn't waste your money. with the exception of a free consultation. just go on a bike for 10 minutes to warm up. get on the matts and stretch everything out. 45-60 mins of stationary weights. finish it off with another 60 minutes of cardio. ^that's a basic workout. what i do is... 10 mins easy warm up on the bike. 60 mins of weights (i alternate between upper/lower body from day to day, 4X20 reps). then i do some core training and stretching for about 20 minutes (sides, back, and abs while stretching during my rests). after that i do cardio, depending on how lazy i am i'd do from 20mins too an hour (i like to do 20 mins on the step machine, 20 more mins on the bike, then 20 mins on the eliptical if i'm up for it). sometimes i'll jog to the gym so i'd skip my bike warmup, then run home afterwards. running is a very good fat zapper, so is the grouse grind. i can't wait till the grind opens up again. for a couple of months last year i was doing it about once a week. crazy shit, i was probably in the best shape then. |

Here's what I did to lose 90 pounds. I was 260, lowest I got was 170, right now Im 200 because I got lazy.
-I went from eating about 130 Grams of fat a day to around 30(50% daily recommended) -Fat Burners(Ephedrine and Non-Ephedrine based ones) not all the time but periodically -Weightlifting, specifically larger muscle groups, such as Back, Chest, Legs and Ass. I worked my arms and other muscle groups of coarse. Larger Groups seemed to make me lose weight like crazy. -Cardio(sigh) about an hour of it before I worked out Nowadays I definately dont work out as hard, thats just what I did to lose my weight. If I do things right now I can lose about 14 pounds in 2 weeks :) |

i always hear that doing cardio before weights is better, but then i'd get all sweaty and leave sweat marks all over the weight seats and benches which is never good. that's why i do cardio after weights.
cardio is important, but weight lifting doesn't get enough props. your biggest fat burning muscle is your thigh - do your squats and leg curls! running will make it shrink too. |

I'm not a good person to ask cuz my eating habits are shit and I'm not healthy at all..
but I would just say eat what you wanna eat cuz life is to short...food tastes good so what's the point in not enjoying it..just eat what u wanna eat in smaller quantities..one slize of pizza instead of 2 etc. and exercise is alright i suppose (i dont do it though cuz I hate it)..When i got back i had gained a lot of weight and felt like shit..I didnt change anything I was eating I just gotta job that keeps me on my feet and I walk to work and back..i might not be stick thin but i feel healthier.. |
