we learned in class that losing weight has a lot to do with psychology.
diet and exercise is a given. But dedication boosts your ego, as well as your healthy habits. so keep at it :)

ps. fat and disgusting? I'd slap you silly. last time i saw you, ye looked great!? you haven't seen fat/disgusting :P

best way i've heard is to do cardio, get your heart rate up, get some sweat comin off you. a good way to judge how you are doing is if you feel sore (but not in pain) the day after then you have done a good work out, if not go the next level up and try that. also try to do everything in intervals. working out constantly can really strain your muscles which'll probably make them tense up = very painful. drink lots of water after workin out it will bring your body temperature back down. even drink lots of water at home and while you're out, water i think is the only drink that doesn't have carbs or calories (i think). i'm blessed with a very high motabolism so when i'm trying to gain weight i have to eat alot. trade ya?

anyways you're off to an awsome start 25 pounds is alot! whatever you've been doing since the summer keep it up=)

but ou know what.. its worth it.. if you have a goal in mind.
Mines to be as tinny as I was in summer.

But since your a veggie eater Krista.. I think maybe you should get mroe protien in your diet.. that would probably help A LOT!!! cause.. from whatI kow.. you dont get much.. unless you come over for dinner :P MMmmmmmmmm burrito!

I'm looking forward to summer.. I'm gonna walk a lot more.....

we'll do it together.!!

oh, and why do you ask your mom.. your both like the same body shape.. and your mom.. I mena.. like your mom looks like a completely diffrent person!! remember when I I saw her for the first time in a long.. while?! I thought your dad was with another woman!!!! she looks Damn fine!

How dedicated are you to losing weight? Cause if you want lose weight as fast as possible without the use of any drugs, it can be torturous.

When I used to work on my cardio, I'd run so hard sometimes that after running I'd start to black out. Not to mention like 5 years back when my lungs collapsed after I ran.

But if you're serious, you really need a plan, you can't just half ass it and think it's going to work.
When I used to work out I'd wake up 20-40 mins earlier everyday and I'd work out 6 days a week. switching up from cardio and weights everyday; and every weights session would alternate between lower body and upper body.
There are also certain ways of doing cardio and weights that can increase their affectiveness.
I'd also eat like 5 meals a day but they were portioned meals. smaller meals but more so your body doesn't have to store as much fat, not to mention paying attention to what you're eating. Usually you can make a few changes to the ingredients of what you're eating and it can lower fat% by a lot.

and yeah, the best thing hands down to lose weight is running.
It can be bad on the knees sometimes but there are few exercises that work out the entire body like running does.

one last thing, I recommend trying to get some moral support from friends; maybe like a work out partner because the hardest thing is waking up and going to the gym.

I sincerely wish you goodluck :)

I used to weight 165 about 3 years ago, and I broke down, parked my truck and I began walking places i'd normally drive.... power walking everywhere.

A year ago I gained some weight back when I moved back to vancouver, so I Bought a minidisc and some headphones, started going for walks every night by myself. Power walking to techno for an hour a night downtown - it sheds the stress from your day and makes you feel great all around. I dropped down to a 28 waist again, and have managed to stick to it lately just by making sure I balance what I eat with physical activity.

Tanning while working out is also a good way to speed up the process! *growl*

<3 :)

^^^ im not intensely serious to the point where i think im gonna lose 50 pounds in the next month hahahaha

i have my weekends off....gym during the week

and only walking if i can do it during the weekends

i have a goal...i wanna lose between 8-10 pounds a month...average 2 a week which is an acceptable goal

i am a vegetarian and have been adding in MUCH more protein and iron into my diet then before...which i think is helping, and i went to a seminar awhile ago...and i learned to eat things that rot...if it doesnt rot its not good to put in your body

and i've done small things like started to eat fish and seafood again, and switched to whole wheat pastas, etc.

my only advice: don't try to rush anything. work at a steady paste and be patient. There are NO ways around the situation. its hard hard work for a while. gotta get down dirty with it.

also by working out you are helping your looks by other ways. cardio helps out your lungs to keep them strong and healthy, sweating clears your pores and helps the skin, saunas and steam rooms are good. probably does other things but i only know of those. oh! big big thing is streching or else you'll get horrible horrible cramps so strech before and after!

my suggestion, go to the health food store get yourself some udo's oil and some multi greens. They will explain to you alllllll about the benefits and how they help you.

you need cardio..... but to burn fat you need to strength train 2-3 times a week.... muscle burns calories even when your resting. then you may want to see about picking up some protien and glutamene :) If your back at your gym, it may be worth it to have a consultation with one of the personal trainers..... its amazing what you can learn in an hour, you just tell them your goals and they will tell you the best way to get there. And they will tell you how to work out properly. Also to get the most benefit out of the days when you are just doing cardio....you want to work at a normal intensity and then kick up the pace for a minute then slow down again for two or three minutes... for example if your on the tread mill.... jog for a minute or jack up the incline for a minute.. work harder for that minute....and then slow it back down.....and as long as you want to lose always change your routine up....so you dont reach the point where you wont be losing anymore.....your body "conquers" a routine... and you'll just level off.

I'm doing hot yoga and I've lost a few pounds and increased my strength and flexibility at the same time. There is also no attitude at any of the classes and I am sure that help with continuing on regularly.

If you want you can try signing up to plant trees or chop them down. My friend lost 35lbs doing that and came back looking like Bruce Lee.

Good things don't always come so quickly. Commitment+time=best results. It seems to me that the fastest solutions to weight loss out there are the most unhealthiest. I think that if you really want something, and especially like something like losing weight, the best way is the healthy way, and the healthy way does require time and commitment and doesn't just fall into you lap in a month. But, in the end.. the results are long-term and you are less likely to yo-yo back and forth from one weight to another, and are more likely to feel generally good about yourself. Not just about your looks but just healthier and happier. I think the true goal in mind should be to be HEALTHY, and not to lose weight. When you focus on losing "numbers" rather than gaining health, it tends to become all about shedding pounds, regardless of the means you use in order to get there. That could have some unhealthy consequences.

I've seen a lot of people fall into that obsession over numbers. One person I once knew was a good example. She obsessed about fat constantly and would impose her own diet on others, criticizing others for their eating habits. And, she was a heavy smoker who obsessively went to the gym. In my view, smoking+gym is an oxymoron-ish.

I would recommend getting a consultation from a trainer. Get them to make an individualized program for you at the gym that you can follow, and as you develop further stamina your trainer can adjust the program to suit you. Also, working out doens't have to be boring. It can include anything from just taking the stairs instead of the elevator, or what my friend does: parking the car far away from your destination to force yourself to walk. Small changes in your daily life can make a big difference in the long-term.

There are also a variety of activities you can take part in such as dance/hiphop lessons. Make plans that are realistic for you, your lifestyle and your personality and set goals that are realistic for you so that you don't disappoint yourself and give up.

it's good that you don't want to, or expect to lose a ton of weight rapidly. It's unhealthy to do so. The way you eat makes an amazing difference on results, as does cardio. You could also do what I did and just get the flu twice in one month and lose 20 pounds... :yucky:

you should be lifting weights on top of that cardio. make sure you're stretching and such as well, makes a big difference.
you also should be going more then twice a week if you want faster results. bring your gym stuff too work and go straight to the gym when you get off work.

what sort of stuff do you eat? go into detail.

Did anybody watch that show on Spike TV , Ultimate fighter or wutever ?
Some dude lost 20 pounds within a day or 2 !
He was in the sauna of hours and hours at a time. That cant be good for you lol

But yeah i was talking to some trainers at the gym and they were saying something like losing weight is 70 % eating right and 30 % training. So a good diet is def. a good start.

i suggest going to shambala

sean came back 15 pounds lighter a few years ago

otherwise i'd go speak to a professional trainer. at most gyms you can get a free consultation/trainer anyways. everyone's body is different so hearing about what worked for someone else may not necessarily work for you
