Cardio...and never EVER wimp out on it. If you feel like you are being lazy at the gym then PUSH yourself. If you are having troubles pushing yourself then go with a buddy that will push you. You are the only one that can make it happen.

It's all about will. It takes time but it is soooo worth it in the end!

Haha... Reading all this advice makes me feel reaaally crappy bc I do so many things that are bad for you!!! (But good for you Krista for embracing lifestyle changes to reach your goals. I'm happy to hear you aren't taking any short cuts :y: )

However, I am finally happy with my body, and have no desire to lose any weight or change my body in any way. If I dropped a few pounds, that would be OK with me, so long as it just happened naturally (like I usually drop a few in summer bc I am more active, etc). I wouldn't want to gain any more though...

But yeah... I eat pretty healthy (probably a little too much fast food), and am fairly active when I am not sick (like I have been a lot this winter). I know that I can get obsessive about exercise and food (I've seen it in the past), so really I just try to do everything in moderation. I eat pretty much whatever I want, whenever I want. I just try to balance it all out over time. And no, I'm not one of those super skinny girls. Ive got curves. I just happen to like them a lot more now :)

I have lost about 20lbs in the last month, by not eating shit food on a regular basis, drinking less milk, doing more crunches and more cardio.

seems to be working out nicely. My cardio consists of dancing for 30 minutes to drum and bass :)

4 days crunches, 3 days cardio weekly. I try to do 300 crunches a day, 100 in the morning, 100 in the afternoon, 100 at night.

I guess to each their own.

Good luck kristamatata!

Hey Krista I don't know if anyones said this yet, but here goes. The Caloric Equation states "energy in vs energy out"! What's this mean!?!?! Well simple, if you want to shed a few pounds eat wise, watching calories, and be active! Walking 30 minutes a day, or going to the gym. Controlling your food intake, with a active routine will make you feel better and look better in no time FLAT!! Try it!
I used this equation to gain weight for hockey....worked like a hot damn...but gaining the size is easy work compared to losing it...ALL THE LUCK GRRL!!!

too bad i couldnt go on jerry to lose weight unless my story was something like this:

"im losing weight so that my lesbian lover will love me more, meanwhile she has a male lover who's 600 pounds but thats ok becuase i have another lesbian lover and male lover who come out, when it turns out my other lesbian lover is actually her mother, and the male is her best friend"

I'm trying to keep to my NY resolution of losing about ten or fifteen more lbs before summer comes and so far it's been working

This is what I've been doing:
-watching everything that goes in my body (opt'ing for more veggies, no fast food, no cheese and sub'ing white bread for brown)
-working out 3-4 times a week
-walking places as much as possible
-No coffee. It's not as much the coffee as the amount of sugar I have to put in it to make it taste the way I like. Now I'm only drinking green tea and making sure I am drinking at least two of my huge Nalgene bottles of water a day
-I do 150 sit ups a day (reflecting on this I know that's not very many but I hate doing sit ups and I'm sure it'll get easier for me to do them later down the road)
-cardio cardio cardio (this is REALLY important)

Remember that it's healthy to lose about 2lbs a week. Dont stress yourself to much about the actual numbers. Care more about making a positive lifestyle change and being active and feeling good about yourself.

So far I've lost about 2 dress sizes (I'm now easily fitting a size four) and really starting to notice the benefits in my health, pyhsically and mentally.

Keep at it hunny :)

^ be careful about the sit ups. for as many sit ups you do you should do the opposite exercise to keep your 'core muscles' ballanced. otherwise you'll be a hunchback :)

one more vote towards swimming. great cardio workout, plus different strokes work different muscles.

(ps:i have gained 8 pounds in the last month!!! there is hope for you to loose it if i can gain it:P )

Something to note tho: Swimming tends to work really well for building endurance, and toning but not really for losing weight. It compliments a regular heavy cardio workout, but dont be expecting to lose a ton of weight just by doing lengths and not doing anything else.

If you're doing crunches/sit-ups, be sure you're sucking in your gut, otherwise they are not going to be as effective!

your right, coffee doesn't help its a dehydrant and you wanna drink plenty of water (not crazy emounts of water, you arn't working out your bladder here) and the sugar/whatever you put in coffee wont help either.
