Iduno, bc has helped enough by making that time of month allot lighter and shorter. Enough that it barly bothers me for more than a day.

Im curiouse... how does it effect pms and can you tell its "that time of ht emonth"?
GAH - Rhia, I love you, but seriously - nature did not intend us to have as many periods as we do. If nature had its way....

I dont think you understand what I mean by "natures way". Theres a degree im ok with, but there comes a point where ppl try to play god and solve every suffering problem we have. Not saying that stoping your period is bad, its just that humans are often proven wrong and some things are too good to be true.

I personaly would just like to wiat a bit before hopping on this and see if there are any long term effects wich I dont think studies have been able to prove yet.

how long are you planning on waiting?! Because you do know it'll be years and years before they discover any of the longterm effects it has on women. In my case, i'd be all over this like a fat kid on cake.

Sure we may bleed far more now than we used to, but you've got to remember that things are different now. You have to factor in the fact that we consume higher quality/quantities of food now than before. If you've ever had friends with severe anemia (iron defficiency) who would just stop getting their period for a while because their body couldn't handle it, it makes perfect sense.

Because we've altered our way of living, we've also altered the norm for periods. So just because women before me didn't bleed as much, I don't think that means I have to stop myself from having my period alltogether.

(Just not my thing, but I'm happy the option will be available for the girls who want it!)

also, there may be the possibility that this could cause defects in the female reproductive system, thus making the possibilities of having children impossible.

all in all, this doesn't sound like a very good idea to begin with. heck, i'm not much of a fan of the regular bc pill myself, because it creates a false sense of security and protection that both men and women use all the time to have un-protected sex, thus spreading STD's and possible un-wanted pregnancies. and to top it off, the bc pill can make some girls absolute basket-cases due to hormonal imbalances, complications with their menstrual cycles, etc.

just practice safe sex. use a condom. or two or three if you want. fuck all of these pills and shots and patches. just wrap it up.
It's not so much that were screwing with mother nature... its just that I think allot of women should be cautious before jumping on the band wagon. I can understand that for some women their period can be an absolute nightmear causing pain and heavy bleading for up to 3 weeks! However to have every women out there whos on BC move to this new kind might have some dangerouse side efects for some that studies have not detected yet. I just dont have allot of trust for the regular dr. or faith in scientists thinking out side the box. By all means go try it, but I think for allot of us who can deal with what we have now it might not be a bad choice to wait. The reason im ok with BC now is becuase my mother used if beofre I was born and it obviously did no damge then.

As for BC = STD's thats rediculouse. If you want to stop std's then ppl have to be educated. It's common sence to most I would think.

Did you ever suffer any side effects?

A had a friend who started taking it about a year ago she only took it for 6 months because it gave her really extreme mood swings... She'd be super bitchy one minute and depressed the next. It eventually drove her and her b/f to breakup. :(

I have always been a bitchy person. Without the depo. My best friend thinks I lack emotion and can be cold. This hasn't changed since I started the shot. I am not much of an empathetic or sympathetic person, more of a realist.

I never noticed weight gain. And when I did go off it for a year, is when I had my cysts come back. So I was not only put on the shot, but taking BC pills over and above to treat the aggressive cyst.

Once again, I have to ask where you get your information.

I think some of you are grossly mis-informed. I have studied womens health at length. I am on one of the most controversial BC's and I suffer from a condition that has plagued women for centuries that can ruin their natural ability to give birth.

The reason it is unhealthy to get as many periods as we do, is because it is a proven cause of cervical cancer. These are all things that have been proven in studies by numerous dr's and scientists.

Really - go talk to your dr's about this. Some of you have very archaic and somewhat unhealthy ways of thinking.

Oh and Skitzo - it will not stop the symptoms of PMS. Some women will still get PMS every month.

note my previous post.
this shot scares me after i saw what two friends went through.

the second friend lost her sex drive, completely, and found out about the calcium loss that is caused by the shot.
bad news bears.

simple fact of life

"also, there may be the possibility that this could cause defects in the female reproductive system, thus making the possibilities of having children impossible."

notice how i said "may" and "possiblilty"? plus, anything that is ment to stop you from having your period all together cannot be good for you.

the basket case thing is just from personal expeciance. i've dated girls who went on birth control during our relashonship and turn into completely phsyco. and it all happened after she went on the pill but for everthing else:

Birth control is actually a savior for many womens ovaries. Take me for example, if I were not on on BC, I suffer from a condition called endometriosis. Which is a condition where cysts grow on the uterus. When one of these explodes, it is extremely painful and can damage your reproductive system. I have had one explode, and was fortunate enough to not suffer anything more than the pain. The last cyst I had recorded was 12 inches in diameter. THAT IS HUGE. BC prevents the growth of these cysts, and shrinks them in size. I am thankful there is such a thing to treat it.
well, seeing how it is safe to say that not many women have exploding cysts in their uterus, can you at least reqognize that bc pills/shot may not be for every women?

oh, and one more thing. when you get a Ph.D in gynecology, please then feel free to tell women what is good or not good for their biology.

Actually alot of woman have ruptured cysts
I've had it happen a couple times now, and the last time I was on enough morphine to kill a horse. (try having seven large cysts rupture over the period of an hour and get back to me)

Most times woman dont even know what is happening untill after...unless it's severe which in my case they were, but not for all women.

Suck my dick. Don't play the vag card with me. I know a lot of human beings and fucking around with your natural chemistry for whatever reason is never a good thing, vagina or no vagina. There are always side effects. I also don't want kids so all of my girlfriends have been on some form of the pill and I've seen what it does. It's still a neccessary evil. I'm not telling anyone what to do with their shit; I'm just saying to be careful and be aware...and that goes for anything you put in your body.
