As much as i have loved not having mine for like 8 or 9 months so far, It would be something i may look in to as i was on the shot befor pregnancy but to be honest its more assuring knowing when i get my period. So i am leaning more towards no atleast for awhile....

Im also the trype that doesnt try something when it first becomes available even though i know it has been tested. I like to wait awhile and know people who have tried it and all that.
If i do try it, it wont be for a bit im a little iffy about what ive read so far. |

Yes im fully aware of that...
Depending on the women, but most women dont get it while breast feeding, therefor making some women believe they cant get pregnant while feeding. WRONG Common sense ;) (well maybe not that common but i knew it befor pregnant and its common knowledge when pregnant Id think. I also do not plan to go back on any type of pill or anything for awhile atleast id rather not at all we have discussed all options. Last edited by PwInCeSs; Jun 26, 06 at 11:34 PM. |

Studies have shown that not getting your period is healthier for you, and can reduce the risk of endometrial cancer. As well as other types of cancer that women are at risk for in their reproductive organs. Women who had sex pre-birth control would only have say, 100 periods in their lifetime. Due to pregnancy and breast feeding. Now woman have on average, 450 periods, as they take birth control, and 10 children families are not the norm. It has been proven that these women are at higher risk for cancer as a result. The period is not to cleanse the body out. It is a lining that is there for a fertilized egg to attach itself to. If a woman does not become pregnant during the month, the lining is released. When a woman is on birth controls like the pill that stops the period and depo, it stops the cycle completely. |

As far as not getting my period - it is fan-fucking-tastic. It is cheaper. Less mess. No planning around it. No unfortunate accidents. IT is grand. |

as much as i dislike bleeding from the vagina i would not want to take a pill to stop my period. reason being is that my lover and i do it (sexual intercourse w/ release) and even though i am on the pill i know that there is a chance of an "oops." having my period every month is like assurance that i am NOT infact knocked up.
i guess that if i did take the pill that eliminated the period i could just take a prego test once a month to gain that reassurance. |

Personaly I dont even feel that comfotable taking the pill to begin with. To me your messing with mother nature and in so many cases that have happened with other medical cscience and "studies" they sometimes find out they were wrong.
Its like the idea of the electric/hydrogen car was a great idea for years. Untill recently fire fighters refuse to cut open the doors if your cought in an acident because they risk getting electricuted. Not the best example, but its just the way i look at alot of things that seem to good to be true. Iduno, bc has helped enough by making that time of month allot lighter and shorter. Enough that it barly bothers me for more than a day. Im curiouse... how does it effect pms and can you tell its "that time of ht emonth"? |

getting my rag isnt really a reassurance for me as i know and most ladies should know, you can be preggers and still get a periode monthly - my mom did with both my brother and me, didnt know she was knocked up with my brother inside for the first 4 months.
however, going from my 8 - 10 day hell periodes involving passing out on the bathroom floor from cramps to the lovely 4-6 day ones i have now, ill stick with the pill i have. it already doesnt feel like as much of a hassel. |

don't screw with mother nature (as rhia put it). beside, if this new wonder pill takes out the menstrual cycle, then it will eliminate PMS. and if it eliminates PMS, then women will no long have the ability to get pissed off for no reason. and that is something that women cannot live without, so don't use it.
also, there may be the possibility that this could cause defects in the female reproductive system, thus making the possibilities of having children impossible. all in all, this doesn't sound like a very good idea to begin with. heck, i'm not much of a fan of the regular bc pill myself, because it creates a false sense of security and protection that both men and women use all the time to have un-protected sex, thus spreading STD's and possible un-wanted pregnancies. and to top it off, the bc pill can make some girls absolute basket-cases due to hormonal imbalances, complications with their menstrual cycles, etc. just practice safe sex. use a condom. or two or three if you want. fuck all of these pills and shots and patches. just wrap it up. |

"mother nature" never intended for women to menstruate as much as they do right now.
i'll just copy and past what i posted about this topic from another thread: Quote:

id feel like a mutant if i didnt get my rag every month.
a pill like this gives me the heeby geebys. watch in like 10-15years studies will be done on the long term effects of this pill and the outcome wont be so fucking dandy. oh and this could also coincide with the NWO population control agenda for all you "conspiracy theorists";) |

Birth control is actually a savior for many womens ovaries. Take me for example, if I were not on on BC, I suffer from a condition called endometriosis. Which is a condition where cysts grow on the uterus. When one of these explodes, it is extremely painful and can damage your reproductive system. I have had one explode, and was fortunate enough to not suffer anything more than the pain. The last cyst I had recorded was 12 inches in diameter. THAT IS HUGE. BC prevents the growth of these cysts, and shrinks them in size. I am thankful there is such a thing to treat it. |
