The office photocopier drama

Why is it that whenever the office photocopier/printer stops working due to an issue with the ink/toner, paper jam, etc. does the exact same cast of characters come out to play? Here's an introduction to those chacracters:

1. The "oh my god there is a problem with the photocopier and I need to print my documents RIGHT NOW so I'm going to touch a few buttons and walk away in frustration" guy, who might return after you've messed around with it for a few minutes and grunt and walk away

2. The asking every 10 seconds "is it out of paper?" guy

3. The "I'm gonna stand here like an idiot and watch you guys fight the photocopier and offer no help and may or may not also be a mouthbreather" guy

4. A second version of character #1 except their angle is "somehow you fucked this up"

5. Office techy guy who instead of helping, walks by and laughs at the sight of two chicks trying to clear a paper jam

Good times man, good times.

my fave is the pud who walks into the middle of the crowd, shoves everyone out of the way, pushes up sleeves, pulls up pants and announces how everyone can relax, they have it handled and proceed to break the machine to the point of needing to replace parts.

The one at my work is,

"Let's unplug it and maybe it will start working again"

seems this is what we do 90% of the time at my new job.

Sadly, 90% of the time we ask that, it fixes the problem.

i used to work at a place where the photocopier had a screen that displayed what was wrong with an animating picture.

The problem was half of the time the animation didn't help. Or it would make you go deeper into the machine than you would ever dare go normally. This usually turns you into a combination of Guy 1 & 3. I usually give up when I'm trying to piece things back together and realize I have left overs. *shrugs*
