how i would love to go through my history... but...
i do it because it makes me feel productive. especially recently since i got a sound card. but spending the time digging for records.. sometimes you think, wow. why the hell did i buy this?! and another week or month down the road you're jamming it like it's 1999. i love finding gems, especially used gems. i really enjoy talking about music. especially dj'ing. there's somethign about it. how a world class dj can be playing any given track at any given point of their set, and the random dude or dudette walking in would be like "SICK!!!" / "WHAT THE...!?" or how people pick up on a beat differently. yeah. the money? what money. collecting records and mixing has cost me more than it's made me. the women? it changes your perspective. i don't like the spotlight. but i believe i am a rockstar at heart. free drugs. :^) fine, you have me there. to travel as a dj would be a dream. but i don't invest enough time as some of the other people on this board. love of the music. ftw |

Love of music is a given, but that's really a reason to be a bedroom DJ, not really an excuse to play out. |

ive met lots o alleged djs that arent all that passionate about music. they just liked the title and beeing seen twisting knobs.
and i have a feeling there are some celebrity djs out there that only do it to add to their resume. like some of the playboy djs that suck ass for instance. |

Honestly, when I started it was because I couldn't find anything to listen to that I liked. CD's and such always had only like, 2 or 3 tracks that I really liked. Also, growing up in a heavy breakbeat/dnb oriented town made things worse.
So I decided to start spinning what I wanted to hear. Mostly just to make my own mixes to listen to. Never even cared about getting booked. Time went by, music caught on, that's about it! I still can't find many DJ's who play what I like. There's always tracks and such that I like, but the whole way through a set/mix/CD I always loose interest. As well as I'm addicted to 150bpm+, not a whole lot of people play at that speed. So I still just keep playing what I like to hear! And as long as people keep enjoying it with me I'll keep sharing! |
