I'm totally confused on this topic as to if I feel for some ppl in jail. I know that there are ppl in jail that have been falsey accused but then there are others that REALLY deserve to be there. So how do you determine which ones deserve education and which ones don't?!? I guess you can't really. I'm more towards they are in there for a reason.. my strong opinion and hateful feelings come from losing someone very dear to my heart waaaay to young a few months ago. I want his killer to rot in jail but I know that he will probably get a full continuing education in jail and probably get out in a few years while his family and friends are left with an empty hole in our hearts. Its really repulsive and disturbing! Why should someone who killed someone else get a second chance when the person they killed wont ever get one?!? Oh but thank god they got some extra schooling while in jail....

The fact of the matter is that they are still human beings. You never know, your negligence might inadvertently cause the death of someone else one day... should that mean you aren't entitled to personal growth?

I'd think that personal growth for the better would be a welcomed thing in the public eye when it comes to criminals... after all, it's a step in the right direction. Maybe all they needed was to realize they were capable of being a positive, productive member of society.

I really can't argue with that.. you are right they are still human beings but I think until you actually lose someone that you love by one of these "human beings" murdering them its easier to say that they deserve a second a chance!

Overcoming that negativity and accepting that they are still a person and can change for the better would be more beneficial for you than it could ever be for them.

incarceration isn't so much about rehabilitation as it is about removing criminal elements from the streets.

It's an imperfect solution but frankly this is an imperfect world.

So why not take steps toward making incarceration means for rehabilitation?
