There's actually an organization of RNs that actually takes the time to write to television stations and various other media outlets whenever there's an inaccurate portrayal of nurses in the media.

Shows like House, ER, and Grey's Anatomy get a lot of letters written to them.

No mortgage, but I only spend 21% of gross income to live in a pretty nice one bedroom and den in Yaletown. I invest every month. I don't have to worry about gas money because I don't own a car. I'm only 26. I wanted to treat myself to a pair of $500 shoes. I guess that means you win.

Courtney, basically I think it just comes down with being friends with people you have stuff in common with and who share most of your values. Just stop hanging out with those people if you don't share their values and beliefs.

you are CLEARLY out of touch with reality. As an RN, even if you work 80 hours a week, every week of the year, you won't break 200K. Or do you not live in BC?

$36.56/hr x 80 hrs a week = < $160,000/yr, or with overtime would put them well over 200K but nowhere near "16 shifts per month"

if you are actually talking about management gained through being an RN then fine, but it's not really just the RN that got them there, as a lot of management positions above RN's are held by people without that level of education. My family goes back generations of nurses, and while they do make a really good living.... $200K ain't even close.

Less than %3 of the population make over $100K a year!!!

even with weekend and night shifts it's around $30/hr.

as a comparison, a BCGEU journeyman (apprenticeship) carpenter hourly wage is $28.

there ARE nurses earnin $40+/hr, but that's with 9+ yrs of experience and a MN NP (MASTER OF NURSING - NURSE PRACTITIONER)

to get a MN NP, you need a minimum of 56 credits or 1 1/2 to 2 yrs of studies.
