If anything, a Bachelor's in Arts (if you're actually interested in learning) can at the very least help you to think critically and provide you with an analytical viewpoint towards issues and problems - even if you decide not to specialize in your major as a career choice.

Yeh i wish i knew more theory. When i was in my prime i could play and read(not so well) level 6 classical spanish pieces on the guitar.

I know very little about theory and reading now but i can still play. Not as disciplined for sure and learning new pieces is a lot slower then it used to be.

^ Gr 8 piano, whoop de fucking do. I finished gr 8 piano when I was 14 and haven't touched a piano since. It hardly qualifies you as being intelligent. My mom's (former) idiot boyfriend was my teacher, he was dumb as a stick but an awesome musician.

As for this whole discussion about colleges, etc. WHO CARES? A diploma or degree doesn't make you intelligent - genetics gives you the ability and hard work gives you the knowledge. And a piece of paper sure doesn't guarantee wage - hell, I dropped out of hs, got my GED, and have just started my degree program within the last year and I make more money than most people I know that are my age. Why? Hard work and dedication. So everyone can just stop running their mouths about education - yes, it's an asset, but just because you have it doesn't mean you actually USE what you've learned.

My take is that as long as you're happy, you're in the right place. Akeel is clearly happy with his choice of career, or he wouldn't be doing it. Maybe he's not a lawyer, maybe he never wanted to be?

Education helps refine your natural intelligence. I'd rather hire an educated person with less natural intelligence than an uneducated genious.

besides, for some people, the end result of education is personal betterment rather than purely financial. How much money you make isn't the end-all be-all for some people.

^ That's my point, too. I've chosen to get my BBA to enhance my knowledge, however, just because I don't have a degree doesn't mean I have no idea how to run a business. Some people (like me) have a natural business savvy, getting my degree will just enhance that. Some people have no business savvy whatsoever, and think that getting a degree will all of a sudden make them able to run a successful business.

i'm pretty sure hard work and dedication many times have to do with parents, and their help, and those that got help- u're lucky... i completed high school AND college, all in my own and i don’t need i need any lessons on life. i've been supporting myself and living in my own since 16, and pretty sure learned a lot more then any people in this forum..

anyway.. very good for u and for what u do today!


ps please dont compare music education in canada... we had our exams in front of whole city and actually attended schools, and it was nothing like a teacher coming home and teaching you piano lessons...

i dont know so much about alber einstein... i grew up in Europe and didn’t learn much of Canadian / American history... i moved here in grade 9..
obviously in europe they really really focuse on EUROPIAN history rather then American/Canadian

it was all about USSR, and nothing else (similar to US today)... they teach you how great our Union of countries was, and all that crap... and besides things are way different now, maybe now they actually teach some history other then USSR.
