That news confrence was an absolute joke... He had no idea how to address the issues with the DTES. I don't even think that he saw that question coming from the media. Its rather ironic however 48 hours after that news confrence the campers at oppenheim park all of a sudden got a room at the provinces so called "subsidized/affordable housing" which is nothing othen then a hotel on the DTES that the province bought out and renovated.

The province seems to have an ideology that "well if we house the homeless / drug addicts then the problem on the DTES should go away..." When in reality what needs to happen is to get people help, which includes detox/rehabilitation/ and housing.... But for the love of humanity don't house them in the very same neighborhood where they roamed the streets finding a way to get there next hit...

Ya I totally agree!!!
The DTES is full of "pay by the week" hotels which isnt making to problem any better its just making it worse and putting the situation on hold!
I dont think They are going to do anything about the condition on the east side! They are just going to keep promising and talking about it and hope that it fixes its self and it wont!!!
Not untill the govermnent actually puts some money towards helping the people down there who can not help them selves!!!!!!!1

Just because something is extremely marketable by big corporations doesn't make the athletes performing any less legitimate. Revenue and advertisement also play a huge role in every kind of professional sport there is out there. It's because they are good athletes and who have no powers or decisions over who advertises and makes money out of the games. So actually yeah, it is still all about sport.

i love opening up nbc.com and reading about all the conspiracies this year. i think i was the only one cheering for underage Chinese gymnasts. poor U.S.A. can't handle losing to children. These kids work just as hard...if not harder.
