Not really, voting for a representative for a riding who's issues won't effect you by the time they take office doesn't make too much sense.

Technically you still could, but it's a fairly useless vote. If we had an election system like the American's (you vote for a national leader) rather then one where you vote for your local member of Parliament it would make sense.

The issues that are important in her current riding aren't the same in her future riding (a growing suburban area based around highways vs a dense urban area), nor would whoever was elected in that area properly represent her new neighborhood.

as joe rogan said regarding the dumb presidents:

"voting for the president is a lot like rooting on pro wrestling: It makes you feel better to do it, but I am not sure it affects the outcome."

You can't vote for a neighborhood unless you live in that neighborhood and have a piece of mail to show for it...

1. Marty, all of the time you are taking to reply about how you don't vote or care about voting would be MORE than enough time for you to jack off, take a nap, and vote. either go out and vote or shut the fuck up about it already.

2. EVERYONE should vote. Remember that votes count for funding for your preferred parties.

3. If you don't have proof of address you can get someone from the same riding to swear an oath that you are who you say you are so you can vote.

4. No more excuses on why you think it's ok not to vote in this thread

5. pie is good :)

My brother lives in a riding where the liberal candidate has made several comments basically saying she doesn't agree with most of her party's platform.

He doesn't vote agree with a lot of her opinions on these subjects.

Should he still vote for her? Or for the NDP candidate who he agrees with more so? He supports the liberal party, but doesn't agree with the candidate.

I support the NDP every year, however in my current riding, I believe the Liberal Candidate has done amazing things to promote tolerance for Gays and Lesbians across Canada, heading up several bills.

I think in parliment she will do a lot more to promote social change then the NDP candidate would. In this situation the party isn't as important to me as the MP.

No myra, everyone else should shut the fuck up.

Who gives a shit, broken promises, wasted time. all these posts about voting and debates makes everyone look like pretentious swine.

My life has changed very little since I've moved out on my own without the help of the parental units and there's been many, many, voting opportunities.

After next week, I highly doubt my habits are going to change, and so are your's.
Taxes get raised.. oh no! What're we ever going to do? Cry like a fucking baby? No, you deal with it and will deal with it.

Just my own close minded opinion, I'm sure things can be dealt with if the "wrong" party wins.

You have got a lot to learn.

But then again I guess some people just enjoy being passengers in life.

Totally Jim.

Not worrying about how shit my life is going to be in a few years makes me happy.

As long as they dont ban smoking, drinking or diving, I'm a happy camper.

ok, so you took one example from one riding out of how many and decided it was OK to not vote for the party? Just because the party VS the candidate means nothing to you, don't you think it might mean something to other people?
