I am totally money obsessed, like Esi and oddmud I would like to throw my hat into the ring for "who's got their shit together 2008 edition".

Thanks to my increased earning potential my standard of living has gone up to levels I didn't think possible. For example, instead of No Name "Apple Beverage" for 99 cents at Extra Foods, I have upgraded to full on apple juice.

My friends are in the same boat as I am, and we now talk about investment strategies and what we do with all our free time now that we are rich and better then everyone else, instead of how drunk we got over the weekend or how many video games we bought last month. This is especially useful for my friends who make less the $80 000 and live in the city, since this is technically impossible despite the overwhelming amount of people who manage to do this.

This is normally followed by an enjoyable evening of posting my salary online for people who might not have the earning potential that I do.

I don't think she was trying to say she's better than anyone and I think she raises a really good point. There's a huge difference between being obsessed with the power of money and stuff in general, and being smart with money and thinking about the bigger picture (investments, etc.).

Anyways, let's all count ourselves lucky that even if it makes us uncomfortable someone earns more than us or that someone has more stuff than us that at the end of the day we have a roof over our head, food to eat, and are a lot more fortunate than many in our city and many in the world.

money is a big factor in a lot of decisions but its not the only factor. for example, i had a potential opportunity to be making significantly more than i am now at another company but in the end i decided to stay here because of the quality of work
