Lowering a Pickup always seemed odd to me as once you do that you eliminate the main reason they were made. FOR CARRYING SHIT! If it's an inch off the Pavement you can't carry anything in it, in which case why buy a Truck when you can just have some lowered Impala or other such Car? If I'm going to get me a nice big Truck, it'll be a Dodge 3500 with the Turbo Diesel or F-350 Diesel raised up huge and lots of Lights and a fully Stocked Gunrack. REDNECK STEEZ Y'ALL!

I agree, except for sport tuned trucks like the Dodge SRT-10 Ram, Ford F-150 Lightning, and even the Chevy SS (Although it barely stays ahead of the Hemi 1500), trucks should be left alone or raised with wide tires and all.

^^Yeah! The little, tiny, lowered S15's really get on my nerves. I wouldn't even waste my time raising those either. If you want a compact truck to raise and have some fun with, get a first gen Dakota... R/T!

Meh, tell me about it. My 2wd 97' f-150 with the 5.4L gets on average 13mpg city / 16mpg hwy... but I've always had a truck so im kinda used to the shitty mileage. But I love trucks and will gladly fork out the extra cash for gas before I trade it in for a civic or echo or something like that.

I don't even want to think about the mileage that guy gets with his F-150 rocking the big boots.

I heard they're coming out with like a 6 cylinder diesel for the '05 F-150's. I'm interested in seeing how that turns out.

Next time I fill the Hemi, I'll make sure and reset the trip. Also, the overhead display keeps track of the mileage, highway and MPG. I'll post em.

It wasn't normal valet. I had a 2km route through city streets.

Ok, well I can respect that.
That's still only through city streets, though. You're not really taking the car to its limits.

It sounds like a cool job for sure.

Yeah man, I get the gas for free too as I have an Esso gas card. Kind of breathe a sigh of relief everytime I see how high the $ bar goes on the gas pump... "Sweet fuck am I ever lucky I'm not paying for that."

how big is ur tank (litres)
i take it u filled it up 2 the top

can u do this
watch ur odometer
when it hits ~200km
g2 the nearest gas station and fill it up again
record how many litres it took and divide that by 2
that way u'll know how many litres per 100km

the specs on the ford f150 4X4 w/ 5.4L engine
says 16.8L / 100 km (city) and 13.1L / 100 km (hwy)
a base honda civic w/ 5 speed manual
is 7.5L / 100 km (city and 5.7L / 100 km (hwy)
both r optimistic

let's see how ur hemi compares

It's averaging 20.4 litres/100 km. 11 MPG... these are misleading because the computer takes so long to average everything out. The MPG is probably somewhere North of 15.

Well, in that aspect, I am jealous for sure!

I won't be driving the Hemi for very much longer. I too will have my own little econobox. I was going to spring for an SRT-4, but insurance would be deadly, and with my four year apprenticeship coming up, I need something I can build off of. Kind of like from scratch, you know?
So I am opting for an SX 2.0. Awesome, sporty little cars with a lot of potential. I am still debating whether or not to go with the R/T model or just the Sport model. From what I have seen from the R/T, I know I could start from the ground up and come out with something way better.
First, I plan on doing a total black out of the back three windows and then the highest legal shade on the front. This should look awesome on this car, especially since the exterior color will be black. Then the stereo will come. I need to save the mechanical stuff for my apprenticeship, but my plans are obviously a drop and then just go hardcore with the powertrain.

SRT-4 - $27,080 MRSP
SX 2.0 Sport - $18,325 MRSP
SX 2.0 R/T - $21,125 MRSP

Those are all MRSP's (honestly... hehe) so the prices are likely to rise when you visit the dealer. I do get a great deal however, because of my employment.

just cuz it's domestic

maybe i am confusing the sunfire and cavalier prices
for all small domestic. sometimes i c them in the papers
for $13K

^Are those specs for the '04 F-150?

They are a little optomistic (to be expected), but reasonable to what I'm actually getting in my 2wd '97 5.4L. Those specs you list work out to 14mpg city, and 18mpg hwy. (I have a better feel for mpg). I can get 14mpg in the city in my truck if I really try (drive like a granny). The best I've ever gotten was 17.5 mpg driving the hope-princeton from Penticton to Langley with heavy traffic, but my highway is usually 15-16mpg.

...You can figure out your L/100km after driving any distance. Its probably better to get a more average reading if you do the calc over a longer distance.
