I'm talking about actually spending time with a car and its characteristics. |

Meh, tell me about it. My 2wd 97' f-150 with the 5.4L gets on average 13mpg city / 16mpg hwy... but I've always had a truck so im kinda used to the shitty mileage. But I love trucks and will gladly fork out the extra cash for gas before I trade it in for a civic or echo or something like that. I don't even want to think about the mileage that guy gets with his F-150 rocking the big boots. I heard they're coming out with like a 6 cylinder diesel for the '05 F-150's. I'm interested in seeing how that turns out. |

That's still only through city streets, though. You're not really taking the car to its limits. It sounds like a cool job for sure. |

I won't be driving the Hemi for very much longer. I too will have my own little econobox. I was going to spring for an SRT-4, but insurance would be deadly, and with my four year apprenticeship coming up, I need something I can build off of. Kind of like from scratch, you know? So I am opting for an SX 2.0. Awesome, sporty little cars with a lot of potential. I am still debating whether or not to go with the R/T model or just the Sport model. From what I have seen from the R/T, I know I could start from the ground up and come out with something way better. First, I plan on doing a total black out of the back three windows and then the highest legal shade on the front. This should look awesome on this car, especially since the exterior color will be black. Then the stereo will come. I need to save the mechanical stuff for my apprenticeship, but my plans are obviously a drop and then just go hardcore with the powertrain. |

They are a little optomistic (to be expected), but reasonable to what I'm actually getting in my 2wd '97 5.4L. Those specs you list work out to 14mpg city, and 18mpg hwy. (I have a better feel for mpg). I can get 14mpg in the city in my truck if I really try (drive like a granny). The best I've ever gotten was 17.5 mpg driving the hope-princeton from Penticton to Langley with heavy traffic, but my highway is usually 15-16mpg. ...You can figure out your L/100km after driving any distance. Its probably better to get a more average reading if you do the calc over a longer distance. |
