i know inzaghi's a striker and he's got the killer instinct, but jaysus how funny was it when he didn't pass right at the end? i was hoping cech would swat it away just because it would have been so damn hilarious.

also, any idea what the gattuso face grab was all about?

My favorite is tevez, been following this guy in the Argentinian and Brazilian league for 3 or 4 years now, always knew he was gonna come out big !!

Well if a forward is in front of the goalkeeper and hasn´t played in a world cup yet, he is going to try to score himself, cech didn´t have any chance. And the other player on the right was Barone if I remember correctly... If it was Totti or Del Piero or Toni he could have passed the ball, but Barone.....
I don´t remember exactly what Gattuso did ( face grab ), but he once said in an interview: whenever he enters a soccer field for a game, he turns into an animal ( in a good sense though, he fights for every ball, never gives up, runs kilometers every game.... )

If only damn Togo would have beat the French or korea beat switzerland then all would have been well.

Or if korea tied switzerland and french won by less than a 2 goal margin all would ahve been well.

Ref was against us this game, handball missed in box should have resulted in a penalty kick for us, then the blatant missed offside call that led to a sui goal. Couple other shady calls. Not impressed.

but i guess thats teh way the cookie crumbles, sometimes luck is with you, sometimes its not.

japan kinda got shafted with their group. they should have beaten australia though.

korea had an easier group though... but still couldn't make it through.

i've been assuming all along that brazil is the beast in this world cup, but after watching argentina play... im really impressed by them too!

Wooo! Big big party yesterday in Switzerland...the traffic in the cities collapsed and everybody went nuts! I feel so so sorry for the Koreans though...I have met wonderful people from your country in Vancouver and I had to think back to you guys all the time yesterday during the game. I wish it had been Switzerland and Korea instead of the French, but nope...sigh! :(

No, our second goal was regular, it was a Korean who touched the ball and so passed it to Frei, so it can't be offside. But yeah, the refs are in favour of us so far and there were 2 or 3 penalty scenes in the knock-off round that could or should have resulted in penalty kicks, but didn't. I can't complain, really! ;)

exactly, that´s how it rolls ! In 2002 you had a good team, played at home, had a good coach, but seriously, you got to the semi final because of referee favors.... especially against italy. He was from Ecuador ( Byron Moreno) and after he flew back from Korea, he bought himself a new house and a new car and seemed to have enough money for all that stuff, strange.
And against Spain in the quarters, that ball that didn´t even nearly touch the out line, even less crossed it and the referee team called it out. wierd.
Anyway, this year you played well, too... switzerland is an awesome team this year and france is still france.
As for referee favors: You got huge ones last time, so no more for you until the next cup is in Korea.
