Soo that was epic. Hard to argue with your case.

I was at Warped Tour... actually I believe I pitched a lemon at Eminem myself, but hit someone in his entourage.

Forgive me, I was young and foolish : (

Imagine you're a goalie and you're stopping everything, and the puck looks like a beachball to you (and you're not Cloutier). Then the fans start chanting your name derisively.. you're gonna be like "Hahaha I'm working your team over and you're full of impotent rage".

Not productive.

every goalie is going to have his day.

every goalie is going to have his off day.

sometimes we win games, sometimes we lose. sometimes we pump up our team from cheering and screaming, sometimes we pump up the other team to play harder from our taunting.

either way, it makes no difference. not everyone can say or do the right thing all the time. we all have to fuck up and suffer the consequences.

have you people been to sporting events in other cities? I've been to a Cubs game at Wrigley Field before and let me tell you Canucks fans are a polite courteous bunch. we sat in the right field bleachers and every time the opposing right fielder took the field he was heckled non stop. I was having a great time but could only imagine it wouldn't have been pleasant for the player. from what I've heard Wrigley isn't as bad as Yankee Stadium or Fenway Park Park.

If I believe that taunting or heckling an opposing player could throw them off their game I'm all for it. some of you will remember how Tommy Salo let a goal in off his face from center ice at the Salt Lake Olympics that let Belarus beat Sweden in an unbelievable upset. well you bet I was yelling "Salo, Belarus" at the next game.

in conclusion there is nothing evil or wrong with Vancouver sports fans. personally it' a non issue to me but if you really want to get upset over heckling of players I'd say it's just human nature.

as for booing your own team though I'm all for banning these people from future games.

Yes I am an Oilers fan and I know we suck... so that's out of the way... but i'm sure some of you will still tell me we suck.

I was at section 120 last night and here are my observations.

- The energy last night at the beginning of the game was pretty fun, jovial and enjoyable.
- Some of the crowd chanting Turco You suck... classless... Chanting it right before Dallas scored almost felt like Karma: These chants would probably motivate the other team more then deter the opposing goalie.
- The Crowd filing out with more then 5 minutes to go in the game... wow...
- I was sitting beside various people whom had their backs turned for almost the entire third period because they were busy talking about random things. Couldn't even concentrate because of their loud, drunken slur.

As for the actual game itself:
With the exception of Naslund, Linden, Bulis and the Sedins after the mid point of the second period, the entire team wasn't interested it seemed. No sense of Urgency as the quality of chances between the two was night and day.
Sopel looked brutal as he was making me nervous every time he touched the puck. Rory should be put back in.
Taylor Pyatt, Smolinski and Morrison - these 3 players were horrific last night and Smolinski knew i as every time he went to the bench, you could see him shake his head.
It looked like Training Camp all over again.

Leaving the arena and seeing a few drunk people chanting Turco you suck was interesting because he just owned the Canucks.

Apparently beer was thrown at Luongo last night..
I must say I'm not very surprised about the incident though, the crowd was really sad to see last night.

I hope game 5 will be a lot better to watch but this is the season for the bandwagon fans to come out.

There were just a few more obnoxious fans than usual whom were also more boisterous.

I Love passionate hockey fans. Just not delusional ones.

How bout the show incident with Oasis?

There are just a lot of assholes in this city for some reason and when you get a lot of them together and add alcohol people start getting this pro-wrestling mentality in that they think they're being clever with their chants and whatnot when all they're doing is making the city look like a bunch of dicks.

I also agree with ebbo - we are in the midst of bandwagon season where half the people at the game aren't fans of hockey itself but just are getting swept up in the playoff fever and therefore are contributing to the negative ignorance.
you forgot about the Lions fans, regardless of if their team wins or loses, they go at the other teams fans - I have yet to be at a Lions game where a large group of Lions fans haven't attacked a smaller group of Roughrider fans

OK, Turco, maybe you don't suck

With a raucous crowd screaming: "Turco, you suck," the stopper took advantage of strong team defence. He finished with a relatively easy 35-save effort in which he was forced to make few tough stops.

The serenading seemed to motivate Turco to improve on a poor 8-14 postseason record -- including 1-4 efforts the past two playoffs.

"If I said I didn't hear it I'd be lying," he responded. "You relish those opportunities in great hockey environments and the focus is so strong, you almost don't hear it."

Why are Vancouver Canucks fans such spoiled fucking brats?

How about we just treat all opposing players and teams with at least a bare minimum of respect and wait until one of them ACTUALLY does something chippy or underhanded before we get after them??

"Sounds like we're just a bunch of sore losers..."

Hey Jon, I heard one of your players just "Torres" his ACL!

Truthfully you guys are probably better off without him.

But even more truthfully, you're probably fucked either way.

i wouldn't be laughing if I were you, Dave - the canucks are 1 torn ACL/MCL/knee injury away from finishing dead last in the conference. At least the Oilers win and (mostly) lose as a TEAM - the canucks are unblievably one-dimensional.....just a goalie. they are SO BORING to watch now - mediocrity at it's finest (or worst, however you want to say it).

Sure, the Oil are a couple of years away from being a contender, but the experience that guys like Cogliano, Gagner, Nilsson, Gilbert, etc are getting NOW will be invaluable. They just have to make sure they sign Pitkanen to an extension.

and get a goalie, although Garon has shown he can be a reliable #1 (didn't he shut out the Islanders last night? the same tame who took the mighty canucks to a shootout tonight????)

Colleen's boyfriend bet me $100 that the canucks will win a Stanley Cup by the end of the 2010 season. I've never MADE easier money.....

I watched the Canucks as one of the most exciting teams in the league under Crawford and funny thing they never won. I'll take a team first, defense approach over that old run and gun, ego fed offense any day thanks. say what you like about the Canucks being one injury away from finishing last place if Loungo got injured because I guarantee you're wrong. that shit hole called Edmonton has a team that would still be 10 points back...

also the Canucks have plenty of good prospects right now that are only going to get better. oh and having the best goalie in the World isn't so bad either.

The image grates on the Vancouver Canucks like nails on a chalkboard but even though they insist it's erroneous, it's also understandable that the rest of the hockey world regards them as a one-man team.

Too many times this season, the Canucks have depended on Luongo the way a plant depends on water. Before last night's game, they'd been outshot in 27 of their 41 outings; outshot, on average, over every period in regulation time; and outshot in the third period by a whopping margin of 378 to 326. True, shots on goal can be a misleading statistic, but there's also something about that data which isn't exactly ambiguous.
Add it up and the popular perception of the Canucks is they don't have much of an offence but they do have this goalie. On a lot of nights that assessment isn't inaccurate.

even the media guys know it
