Nicolat/Shannon trade
Man, I don't like this that much, I really liked Shannon. Vancouver Canucks - News: Canucks Acquire Lawrence Nycholat - 09/02/2008 |

Your an Idot, Sundin wont come to a bum town like Vancouver. He wants to actually win some games an possibly a cup, which with this sore town they dont have a hope in hell, you canuck fans come November will all have jumped off the wagon just like you losers do every year when the times are tough.... Jokes....

Double-irony!
Meh. I'm sort of the (Sports Talk) opinion that Canucks should tank a season and completely rebuild. Look how it's worked for several other clubs these last few years. I just can't see anything of significance happening this year, even with a Sundin signing. |
|
|||
really? we have a great, cheap defence and a great goaltender. aren't these the starts that any rebuilding team hopes for?
tanking and rebuilding for 3-4 years means louongo signs elsewhere, were losing our defensive edge, and we gain what? maybe a few first round picks that pan out or dont? sounds like a shitty plan when out problem really is offense, we still have plenty of money, and next year will be such an insane ufa class. |

globesports.com: Senators sign Isbister to one-year deal
Isbister signs with Ottawa Nobody cares, 1 less bottom 6 forward we have to deal with. Are we the kings of bottom 6 forwards or what? |

Do you honestly see Luongo sticking around here? If he's going to be on a team that can only hope to win a playoff round (there is no short term fix for Vancouver's complete lack of offensive danger any time soon), he'd likely go back east where wifey is.

2) there are plenty of fixes, that is a ridiculous statement. there are trades from our incredibly deep defence. there are draft picks. there are ufas. there are rfas. there are teams like philly, washington and chicago (and if sundin lands on a team in the nhl, that team will need to dump a player) who are over the cap and need to dump a player with significant salary before the season starts (philly has almost more good centers than lines). with the amount of money we have to spend (10 mil-ish), we could definitely pick up someone like a Gaborik (contract trouble right now, demitra's friend) or an Afinigenov(definately being shopped around) or a Gomez(odd man out in nyr if they land sundin) or Jeff Carter(easiest guy to move in philly) or a bunch of others. All we really need is one more offensive, top 6 forward. sedin-sedin-bernier raymond-demitra-??? |

There's no way Philly will move Carter, and Sundin will sign in Toronto or nowhere, so Gomez will likely be staying put too.
That said there are still moves to be made, and a few options already on the roster for that second line center spot. I think we'll see Hodgson play the first 8-10 games and then either Wellwood or Krog will take over with a chance at a trade mid season if neither can hack it. |

I disagree on the Carter thing, simply because he is a great center whos wasted playing 3rd line minutes and it would make sense to move him for someone who fills a need. I mean they already have Richards and Briere, theyre 1 mil over the cap and they still have 3 more players to sign to have a full roster.
I'm not saying he will go to the Canucks, or even be traded at all, just speculating that he would be the easiest way for the team to solve 2 problems they have. |
|
|||
Nah. They only 'just' missed the playoffs, which suggests if some factors had been different (healthy defense, etc), they could have stood a better chance.
By tanking, I mean writing the whole season off by the end of December. Finishing that low seems to yield high draft rewards. |

Just checked out the price of lower bowl tickert, and I am in total shock. $217 for one ticket! Holy crap! I saw the Avalanche from roughly the same seats and they were a $100 bucks, but that was some time ago. Defenetly not at the rate of inflation. It's a shame most famlies can't afford to go. Looks like I'll be in the cheap seats!
