The real issue here is the fact that church and state aren't seperated on this issue. The state gives benefits to couples that are married, and as such, has put itself in the position of being the power in charge of defining marriage. This is a very, very piss-poor place to be. The obvious solution is to re-write tax laws to state that "common-law unions" can receive such and such tax benefits. That way people can get together and do whatever the hell they want and it's not a state sactioned marriage, it's just a common-law union.

as a libertarian, i can't see any justification for discrimination (freedom of association) being a negative. sure, you won't be able to join our reindeer games, but you could always set up your own thang :)

Go read chapter 23 and name a single catholic who follows those.

The whole book of Leviticus is clear. But it's nothing anybody really follows today.

Chapter 27 talks a lot about shekels and the price of penance for the temples. People don't deal in shekels anymore. But it's pretty clear that's the holy denomination.

For crying out loud, read the book. There's a lot more than simple little small quotes that can be so easily and readily taken out of context to suit an agenda based on fear.
