BLARGH - so after seeing some narcissitic photos in the gallery, it inspired me to bump this thread.
Many of you on this site have beautiful make up. But others - well, it is something left to be desired. My first suggestion is tricks for eyes. Certain things you do with your makeup will make your eyes appear so much more different than they are. So careful when applying your makeup to avoid looking like an alien. Black liner all the way around, can make your eyes seem smaller than they are. Try just using the black liner on the top. If your eyes are wide set. DON'T USE DARK COLORS ON THE FAR CORNERS OF YOUR EYES. This is the most common mistake girls tend to make. It makes them look like their eyes are sitting on the side of their head. Try to concentrate the darker color in the middle of the lid or even on the inside corner. It will give the appearance that your eyes are not so wide set. Also, it is a great effect and can look quite pretty if done right. |

I use MAC paint in stilife...i put it on as my base and then brush my colour on top of it. It helps everything stay on flawlessly and makes any colour look way more vivid and smooth. |

Some makeup tips:
Use vaseline on your eyelashes instead of mascara if you want subtle impact. Wear moisturizer every single day of the year If you're lining your upper eye with a pencil make 3 marks: one on the corner of your eye, one in the middle and one at the edge to give you some direction when you're applying. If you buy a lipgloss that is too light or you want a more dramatic effect use your lip liner to fill in your lips all the way through as a base and use the gloss on top. If you don't have blush on you use a red or pink lipstick on your cheekbones and blend! A really dramatic look I use on my eyes that gets me tons of compliments is using a gold eyeshadow in the corners of my eyes and having it fade out to black so it ends up really smoky. It's definitely something I would only wear out at night but it looks great. |

If anyone is still clueless as to how to get a flawless face, the current issue of Allure (with Britney Spears on the cover) has super basic break down of application, mixing shades and what tools you should be using, for both concealer, foundation and powder. I think you can also go to their website and see a video: allure.com/go/video. They also include quick fixes, which products are best for which skin types, and the life expectancy of your makeup.

TIP: Wear some fucking makeup. I see sooooooo many young women these days wearing NOTHING and they look horrible. Sunken eyes, blotchy skin...pleaaaaaaase take $150 over to MAC and get them to fix you up with some basic product and basic skills so you don't look like an amish woman 24/7. Another tip: Get a freaking tan. Some of you look BRILLIANT with your naturally gorgeous pale skin and I salute you. In fact, I will go as far as to say I am a little bit jealous of you. Then, there are those of us who look washed out and blotchy without a tan. Just a LITTLE glow will make you look 100x better. Real tan, bed tan, or completely fake tan, I don't care, just get a little bit of one, ok? Thanks. |

I'd say something dumb as fuck like, "I was wrasslin' pixies." Not that I'd touch another woman's breastseses, ya know, I'm jus sayin'. :noworry: |

DING DING DING!
My makeup routine takes longer than anyone I know and I don't look like I'm wearing a lot. I'm just a goddamn perfectionist. And if I have to reapply my undereye concealer 5 times because I can still see a little dark circle, SO BE IT! |

eyeliner.
NEVER EVER EVER PULL YOUR EYE TAUT WHEN DOING LINER. This will create the ripple effect, it will look like little black speed bumps on your lids. The skin on your eyelids is the most sensitive on your whole body. Why would you want to pull on something like that and potentially damage it?! LIQUID - On myself, when doing my make up, I keep my lids at half mast, almost looking lazily into the mirror. I find the little tiny ledge(everyone has one) and start from the inside corner of my eye. This is the hardest part of the line, so I get it out of the way first. If I make a mistake, or the line isn't perfect, I wait until the liner is dry before trying to correct it. I use a smudger to erase the mistake, not a wet q-tip, as it can ruin shadow, and everything else you have already done. POWDER/PENCIL - I use these once in a while when I want to wear a little more make up to work than usual. To ensure I get right into the lashline, I just pull upwards gently at the top of the lid and gently press into the line instead of dragging the brush/pencil across. This ensures a darker line without using a liquid. This is good for someone like myself who is heavy handed but wants a more "day" look. |
