Aswell as the quotes for our past parties, added up... safe to say in one show we dish out equivellant to 2 shit mlc cookie cutter parties (Crank stand, shit lights, speakers and dj booth) put together.
If we placed our exact setups in an Agro party, guaranteed youd be like "OMG MAN BEST SETUP EVER!", opposed to having that setup at parties giving us the "BARGAIN BASEMENT" comment.
Well too bad you dont have the logic and common sense to see what is good. Bias is just a big fucking fog that you cant see through.

(sorry to all involved with "AGROculture" for using the name as an example, but it proves the point on how biased "cubed" can be)

Making losses, its a risk but sure as hell love a good product. We got recognized for that and now we sell out regardless, good sound, good setup...
no bias involved opposed to the FnK market (which account MAYBE 5% of the raver population) and in the end will make or break the descison to attending due to shit talk. Ive supported people I dont tottaly agree with, why, because I love a good show, I wont let some bias tell me what is good and what is bad. Yet there are those people that always have opinions and somethign to say.

Its like saying Ferrari's are the shittiest cars alive just cause the owner might be a dick. In reality theyre fucking spankin!

We shell out twice the budget (well close) on lighting and sound due to the shit quality that weve seen in the past. Ticket prices may start out a bit more expensive, but hey, were making the best of what two venues are available in Van on a regular basis. And in the end its bussines, noone throws a rave EXPECTING to loose money.

Rhia... as harsh as it may sound...
please shut up wit your 100$ an hour schpiel, honestly no promoters have been following that "fabled" wage consistently (some do but its really rare nowadays) and nor will it change, sketchy promoters will always be sketchy promoters, and there are PLENTY of em. if you really did look at the scene and notice some trends, youd notice that if you dont get a gig, there will be another person taking your spot... someone willing. And the mentality for most people nowadays is be thankful that your playing out and that you were considered first before someone else. Its respect cause the promoter remembers you for something, you bring something to the table.

You may be great at promoting, dont get me wrong... but you need to work on the dj attitude a bit, ive bitched about pay before and now im not getting booked with a company which I will keep to myself, and it sucks to see some shitty dj get the spot when you knew you coulda gotten it and played better tunes. There is no room to be flippin off companies anymore, undergrounds are sure as dead for the most part too, so even an underground party is a feat to most djs.

In the end, if you dont like the party, dont go.

her point is that 'willing dj's' are destroying the scene, and only hurt themselves in the long run. the whole dj union/strike thing is a valid point, if made obvious by an obviously extreme example... by everone agreeing to NOT play for shite $ or for free, and to not let shit like this be kept a secret from everyone, we can change the way promoters deal with dj's. (and it's %5 of YOUR ticket sales, not the 'raver population' hahaha) *you don't throws parties for 'ravers' in case you haven't noticed already.

one thing that seems to have gotten lost...

rhia signed for $75, was only paid $50 in the envelope but wasn't told until after she DROVE BACK, and then the excuse was they didn't have small bills?!

^^^ WOW
theres no excuse for something like that really...

but in context to other companies, allota people hate on solid yet theyre pulling out drop dead line ups... theyre not having a hard time.

This thread is full of people with opinions, and nothing to show for it.
There will always be an excuse for everything... no matter who.

Not once have I seen an event thrown by Evolve that isn't a shite, bargain basement line up.

Until they do anything of actual worth I'll stand by my word.

PS - I'm well aware of costs for an event, it's what I do for a living.

as much as everybody flames promoters whether who ever it is.... you'll always see the flamer at there shows. Then they'll post reviews on how good the show as only for weeks or months later to bash the promoter. I've seen kids playing in a sandbox come to a faster comprimise and respect with each other faster then any of you whiners/flamers.

On a bussines standpoint, no... its genious they found a medium that people will pay for (aka the rave.)
But from a more real perspective, yes they are ripping people off.

Times have changed... in one year ive noticed allota changes in crowd and how mainstream raving has become. That leads to people idolizing djs and wanting to be in that position. Talent is still around but too hyped up on wanting to get paid, that promoters get fed up with some djs ragging them about pay. As missy Chrissy said, cut them and find someone else.

^^^^ HAHAHAHAHA in one year? what year? that was like 1999 mate. and the rave scene hasn't changed a bit over the last two and half years ish as far as what i see. it's the same seperation of crowds between an 'underground party' and a 'coliseum rave' as there was three years back. people haven't idolized dj's since the 90's for sure, and it's like 10 times LESS mainstream this year than it was in 99/00

Its like the stereotype of drugs and shit was one day accepted!

the key thing that has changed over the last year or so are the number of dj's playing for free (and i am just as guilty about that too)
