A) License/Provincial Photo ID w/ address

B) Govenment ID (SIN, CC etc, passport) AND authorized papers w/ matching name and address (Credit Card Bill, Bank Statement etc)

C) Have a qualified voting citizen in your riding w/ photo ID make an oath that you indeed live at the address stated (neighbored etc)

I dont understand that with the disappointed low voting turn outs that they would make the process any more challenging than it could be.
All my ID was for Ontario... Had a Bell Mobility bill with my PO Box on it and that's all it took to register here.

Surely Students have ID and some sort of paperwork from School?

^ Yeah but a lot of people are not AWARE that they need photo ID/proof of address. And its not just to register, its to vote with your voting card!

Giving chances of common human error, what are the chances of people not only remembering to vote on the first day back at work after a long weekend, plus remembering your voting card AND proof of address. Add on that a lot of busy people have little time to vote between/after work. It just leaves the chances of people voting with not enough time (or effort) to go home, grab their papers, and return to the polling stations.

But too late for people like Kat and pp to use this excuse.

Some dude has a little shameless behaviour in the past
If you forget to check what kind of ID you need to vote, you failed the first test, though I can sympathize with people who simple forget to grab that bill of their desk in the morning.

I did not vote, mostly out of laziness and apathy.

The last 10000000 elections did not require proof of address. So of course a certain % of people assume the rules are the same today. To note, the voter's card has your name and address on it, and is a government document, so again I would think a certain % of people would come to the conclusion that it is a good proof of address.

Interestingly, here's the person who put the voting changes into law (hint, he's a PC):

New justice minister guided by faith and family

i really think that we need a canadian version of one of these. i think the main reason a lot of people dont vote is that they just dont understand. for many listening to a debate in english is like listening to it in arabic. hard to pick something when you just dont understand it. recessions and war are harder to understand than sharks and beauty salons. they need to start gearing campaigns to a younger generation.

it is easier to claim apathy when ignorance is the real problem.

Mayencourt is a nice enough guy in person but definitely don't agree with his policies. I was hoping the greens and or ndp would have placed higher than the cons ah well same ol hedy fry.

I was denied my vote. Apparently I was supposed to vote in South Surrey, which doesn't make a lick of sense considering I've lived in South Vancouver for over three years now.

My choice won anyway, although it was really bloody close!
