$25 ones aren't the good ones. I just recently invested $110 in some "professional" ear plugs and they work great when djing. Used them at our last show. I can give you the number if yah like

However with this one party I have never seen such a small budget spent at this venue with such a high ticket price. Am I still wrong to ask to be paid what the standard fee is for an aspiring DJ? Infact I wish at least 2 other DJ's should of been paid alot more for the years and experince they have. It honestly feels like a slap in the face.
Arguing is not going to solve anything only action. At this point especially arguing on a board that promoters frequent alot, your probably on the verge of digging your own hole and nobody going to want to book you because of this fiasco.... Sure the promoters will always say they are going over budget..... you think they are going to tell you give you signs here and there how there business is going??? Hell no they'll keep it to themselves. In reality shows always prove to be successful.... why??? well they end up throwing endless events after another. And even if they take a loss... you know what... thats part of business.... you win... you lose. In recent posts people have said "if a contract is involved the promoter will not book you" thats a load full of crap until you've tried it and even if they can't book you for an event they would probably have alot more respect to you and book you for either some other event where there is a signed contract because you want to do business.

She's not talking about $25 ones, she's talking about 25 decibels.

Evolve is a group effort, so seeing all this shit talk is burning bridges with respectable people. But hey, in the end Evolve isnt having trouble throwing parties.

Ya it is a group effort it's just to bad your figure head doesn't set a prime example if he did I would probably eat my own words and maybe fork out the coin to go to one of your shows. Till then the boycott lives on

to clarify evolve/atilla is certainly NOT the only promotion company that has shafted their talent as far as pay and treatment is concerned (trust me, i've heard far worse than what has been posted in this thread), i just think a lot of dj's are afraid to speak up when they get fucked over because they don't want to burn their bridges. it's a shame because dj's have every right to fight for what they are worth and what they have invested time and money into ESPECIALLY if a show is pulling in a fair amount of money.

Lol

... Well obviously some of you dont know how business works, and some of you dont watch JUDGE JUDY ....LOL

contract - contract - contract -

everything should we written down and signed before doing the job especially when MONEY is INVOLVED ( and it doesnt matter if its your mommy and or you best friends that is doing a rave. And if it isnt signed then its garbage. anyone that has business skills will tell you that. And anyone that does not have common sense or business skills get screwed most of the time......

here is my 2 cents ... and keep on posting as i want to see what the NEW standard for vancouver's dj will be after this thread is done..

Evolve : when you guys booked us for your shows you guys have paid us right away and even wrote to us on FNK that our money is ready.

just for the record. there is such a thing as a verbal contract. and that's the most you can usually get from a 'friend' (i use that term loosely, by friends i mean someone who you know who would be offended/laugh in your face if you asked them to sign a piece of paper for something like that)

not only that, but WCB says - proper eye wear must be worn as CD and or records might come flying at your while your doing your typical spin back and or ejecting your cd too FAST.

Of course it's annoying for you, and DJ's can probably go on about how much it bothers them getting the shaft for a timeslot, but that is not the topic at hand here.
Actually, it is the topic at hand.

It's really, really frustrating when you have 10 thousand other things to worry about before a show, and there's some Dj calling you repeatedly to complain about their time slot. It's happend to me for years, and it was a royal pain in my ass. I am already so stressed by the day of a show, if anyone is to phone and complain to me, it leaves a seriously bad impression with me and it's very slim they will ever be booked again.

(*note* This is why you leave your cell phone off to voicemail at least a day before the show, Alije ;))

If your shows run smoothly and there's one person making it extremely difficult for everyone, then cut them. Plain and simple.

Edit: this is not a hit at Rhia, it's just my experience over the past 5 years.

Fair enough! I was just a bit confused about your comment. And yes, I can verify that there are other companies out there that treat dj's like shit on a stick.
