to clarify evolve/atilla is certainly NOT the only promotion company that has shafted their talent as far as pay and treatment is concerned (trust me, i've heard far worse than what has been posted in this thread), i just think a lot of dj's are afraid to speak up when they get fucked over because they don't want to burn their bridges. it's a shame because dj's have every right to fight for what they are worth and what they have invested time and money into ESPECIALLY if a show is pulling in a fair amount of money.

Lol
... Well obviously some of you dont know how business works, and some of you dont watch JUDGE JUDY ....LOL
contract - contract - contract - everything should we written down and signed before doing the job especially when MONEY is INVOLVED ( and it doesnt matter if its your mommy and or you best friends that is doing a rave. And if it isnt signed then its garbage. anyone that has business skills will tell you that. And anyone that does not have common sense or business skills get screwed most of the time...... here is my 2 cents ... and keep on posting as i want to see what the NEW standard for vancouver's dj will be after this thread is done.. Evolve : when you guys booked us for your shows you guys have paid us right away and even wrote to us on FNK that our money is ready. |

just for the record. there is such a thing as a verbal contract. and that's the most you can usually get from a 'friend' (i use that term loosely, by friends i mean someone who you know who would be offended/laugh in your face if you asked them to sign a piece of paper for something like that)

It's really, really frustrating when you have 10 thousand other things to worry about before a show, and there's some Dj calling you repeatedly to complain about their time slot. It's happend to me for years, and it was a royal pain in my ass. I am already so stressed by the day of a show, if anyone is to phone and complain to me, it leaves a seriously bad impression with me and it's very slim they will ever be booked again. (*note* This is why you leave your cell phone off to voicemail at least a day before the show, Alije ;)) If your shows run smoothly and there's one person making it extremely difficult for everyone, then cut them. Plain and simple. Edit: this is not a hit at Rhia, it's just my experience over the past 5 years. Last edited by miSsy_chriSsy; Apr 17, 06 at 07:26 PM. |
